Day 9 - Friday April 28, 2017 -

This morning we took the train to Uji (on the JR line to Nara) to visit Byodo-in. It was fairly busy but not excessively so. Golden Week starts tomorrow so we’ve been trying to visit those places that we think may be very crowded next week.

On the way back to the station, we stopped so Anne-Margaret could have a matcha ice cream and then took the train back to Tofukuji, to visit Tofuku-ji and, in particular, the Hojo Garden (which surrounds the former quarters of the Buddhist High Priest, with a different garden on each of the four sides).
