Day 21 - Tuesday November 14, 2017 - Home Again
Home Again

Our flight from Tokyo Haneda left on time and arrived in Sydney on time at 9.35 am, which is about all you can hope for.
We were then delayed because “a passenger has reported feeling unwell” so we all had to sit there until quarantine came onboard and eventually allowed us to get off. It was the usual scrum to get to one of the automated passport machines and then find the right line to the automated gates but we were through soon enough. No line at customs so over to the domestic transfer bus for the ride across the airfield to the domestic terminal.
We were originally scheduled on a 12.30 flight to Melbourne but somewhere along the way that mysteriously morphed, without notification or explanation, into the 1 pm flight. No matter – when we got to the domestic lounge about 10.15, they were able to put us on the 11.30 flight, which saved a certain amount of sitting around time – only works if you have carry on and no checkd baggage so one more reason to travel light.
The final flight was fine and I figured we’d try Uber again for the ride home. By the time we had figured out where the Uber pick-up area was, the car was arriving. Easy enough and a bit cheaper than a cab.
The neighbours had picked up the mail for us so I stopped by to collect that. I’d asked them to throw away the junk so all we got after being away for nearly three weeks was two magazines, yet another Nespresso “marketing piece” (this time a notebook … I wish they would stop sending this stuff and just reduce their prices…) and one piece of mail — a testament to how little mail we get these days and how much is now electronic or online.
